Nicholas has 20 years’ experience as a best-selling finance author, journalist and consultant. His books, Inventing Money and The Devil’s Derivatives sold more than 35,000 copies and have been translated into several languages.
Nicholas worked for many years as an editor at Risk magazine and Bloomberg. In 2015 co-produced the documentary How Councils Blow Your Millions for Channel 4 Dispatches, which exposed the scandal of costly LOBO borrowing by councils. He then founded Risky Finance, an online platform providing data visualisation and risk analysis services.
As a senior consultant for Vedanta Hedging Limited, Nicholas helped Newham Council save £143 million in May 2019 by negotiating repayment of LOBO loans with RBS. He also works as a senior editor for the Economist Group.
