
Nick Dunbar is the founder of Risky Finance and Managing Editor of Global Trading magazine. Originally trained as a physicist at Cambridge and Harvard, Nick transitioned into a 20-year career as an award-winning financial journalist. As a technical editor at Risk magazine, he famously broke the 2003 story of Greece hiding debt using swaps, later holding senior roles at Bloomberg and the Economist Group.
His best-selling books, Inventing Money and The Devil’s Derivatives, have sold over 35,000 copies, leading to expert appearances on BBC Newsnight and PBS Frontline.
Also a senior consultant for Vedanta Hedging, Nick co-produced a 2015 Channel 4 Dispatches documentary exposing the LOBO borrowing scandal. Utilizing this expertise, he subsequently helped Newham Council save £143 million in 2019 by renegotiating their LOBO loans with RBS.
